The top lance ignition rod (also known as the RH top lance ignition rod) is a specialized ignition device for the furnace top of RH vacuum refining furnaces in the metallurgical industry, designed to safely ignite the top gas during wind shutdowns or maintenance operations, thereby preventing gas poisoning and explosions.
I. Core Structure
Body: double-layered sleeve;
Inner pipe: for gas flow; Outer pipe: for oxygen or combustion air flow.
Gun tip: burner + semiconductor ignition nozzle (ignition end);
Transmission and Frame: Pneumatic actuators enable automatic advancement/retreat (initiates movement upon ignition, stops in high-temperature zones).
Explosion-proof high-energy igniter: converts 220 V to high voltage, uses capacitive energy storage (approximately 20 J), and generates high-frequency arc sparks;
Sealing and Cooling: Top furnace sealing assembly with air/water cooling system, resistant to high temperatures and leak-proof.

II. Working Principle
1. Positioning: The pneumatic device advances the nozzle to the ignition point at the furnace top;
2. Gas supply: Coal gas and oxygen-enriched air are introduced and mixed at the burner;
3. Ignition: The high-energy igniter discharges, generating an electric arc in the electrode to ignite the mixture;
4. Gun Retraction: After successful ignition, the gun body retracts outside the furnace to prevent damage from high temperatures.
